Problem Statement
College students have multiple things to take care at the same time - exams, internships, classes, assignments and a side job. Maintaining all of this at the same time overwhelms the student that lead to reduced performance in these domains.
The aim is to build an app that tracks day to day college tasks of these students forging a better connection between the faculty, the admin and the students.
Sub Problems
Tracking Academics - Keeping a track of upcoming exams, results, assignments and academic resources for those exams.
Classes - Access to the class schedule, attendance report and the yearly schedule
Administrative Tasks - Fee Payments and grievance solving
Connection with the faculty - Getting help with doubts and notices
General Updates - Getting information about college news, events, societies events, meetings etc.
Why this problem?
In India, we have all faced some or the other problems when it comes to dealing with the administration. Let that be banks, university admins, or govt. offices. The digital India initiative has greatly impacted this situation for the better, but still a lot has to be improved.
Introducing a solution for this in govt. colleges and universities with be a step towards faster youth growth and development of the nation.
Solution
A personalized university app which the students can have at all times on their smartphones that solves the above sub problems and hence the main problem.
Tracking Academics - App section that displays updated schedule of upcoming exams, tests, viva etc. and links to the required study material and resources for preparing for the same. Also displays updates scores of exams arranged according to the date and exam name.
Classes - Timely notifications of the upcoming classes along with the location, time, mode(online or offline) and professor name. A section displaying weekly updated time table and the yearly class schedule showing holidays and the projected examination dates.
Administrative Tasks - A direct gateway for payments of institute, fine and registration fees.
Connection with the faculty - Students can directly send messages to faculty for doubts while studying from the app and also receive notices and updates by them.
General Updates - A notification section that shows upcoming events, arranges them by their importance and remove the unnecessary ones.
Design Consideration
1. User-Friendly Interface
The app is designed with a clean, intuitive interface that allows students to quickly access the information they need. The navigation is straightforward, reducing the time spent on administrative tasks and increasing focus on academics.
2. Personalized Dashboard
A personalized dashboard provides a snapshot of the student’s academic and administrative status, including upcoming exams, pending assignments, class schedules, and notifications from the administration or faculty.
3. Notification System
Timely notifications keep students informed about upcoming deadlines, exam dates, fee payment reminders, and campus events. This helps in better time management and reduces the risk of missing important dates.
4. Academic Tracking
Detailed academic tracking allows students to monitor their progress over the semester. This includes upcoming exams, assignment due dates, and access to academic resources necessary for preparation.
5. Class Management
The class management feature provides access to the student’s timetable, attendance records, and yearly academic calendar. This ensures students are always aware of their class schedules and attendance status.
